I believe in the power of public education to transform lives and communities.
Fourteen years ago the Luna Laws threatened to undermine the roles of our teachers and public education. My passion for protecting students and teachers led to my role as co-leader in the coalition that defeated the laws statewide. Today, my resolve is even stronger about the importance and power of public education, our dedicated teachers and the positive impact education has on our children and community.
I have served as Vice-Chair of the Boise School Board for the past ten years. In my two terms of service, we passed a bond that significantly improved the facilities at more than twenty-three schools, we successfully navigated Covid, and managed the selection and transition of two outstanding Superintendents. The future is bright for public education in Boise and I am inspired to serve another term as trustee.
My husband and I have four children who have all been educated in the Boise School District. In my free time, I love spending time with my husband, hiking with our dogs on the amazing trails in the Boise Foothills, traveling (especially to visit our children), and cooking. I have aspirations to some day speak Italian fluently.
